Let us continue our pictorial exposé of this simple vehicular transformation...
Look Ma it's all turning black inside..
"I wanna see it painted, painted, painted black... black as coal.. Black as Night.."
And now we are all ready for the exterior and the final four coats of Midnight Black.. Ah well, all good things must come to an end they say, so it's goodnight sweet satin grey primer and hello midnight black...
The Alchemist gives in with a good grace, to forces more powerful than himself, and begins to gleefully coat the demon street machine in the requisite shade of deepest darkest black! :-)
"I see a line of cars and they're all painted black"
The first coat is nearly complete.. and that's three spray-guns full already...
After refilling the gun there is now nothing grey to be seen anywhere... Yah boo-hoo! :-( ;-) :-) :-) :-)
Four coats have now been applied and the fog in the shed begins to settle and clear.
Yep... Black as night, and no mistake.. as indeed this was night time during the painting process.
"Morning has broken, like the first dawning ... Black Bird has spoken like the first Bird." The air cleared, the sun came up, and we went home for a well earned rest while the paint hardens.
The now dry paint is cut back wet with 1200 paper, and then T-Cut cutting polish.. We begin with the roof.. Get that material polished off the back of that roof-spoiler you naughty boy! :-)
Here you can see the 1200 finish on the left door, whilst in contrast the whole front has now been cut-polished once.
In addition to cutting polish, considerable amounts of 'elbow-grease' must be applied.. Ah so.. Grasshopper.. wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off.. It is time consuming and sweat producing, but since it does not kill me it makes me stronger. :-) :-)
Finally, after a good deal of sweat, we push her out into the light of day for the first time. Check out that Western Australian sun reflecting off the boot... She's like a Black Mirror... Look out miscreants and scumbags, the MFP's back on the streets and you got nowhere to run to now!
