"Alongside the much-championed rock bands that frequented the old Hyde Park Hotel Public Bar during the days of the Higgins Family ownership, there were some amazing DJs and electronic artists who went to make up the great Hydey musical pastiche. This all started with the Monday night “Hip Hop” night where many of the future of the scene cut their teeth. In the late 90s after the success of "Hip Hop", Paul Higgins approached me about potentially doing a Tuesday night DJ night. I was listening to a lot of Drum n Bass at the time and thought that a midweek local DnB night might work - thus Precision was born. Precision was a great success over a number of years and helped foster the DnB scene and give punters a cheap night out with quality music. It ran for so long that it became a midweek mainstay. We even put on some Saturday night two and three room DnB events under the banner of Cartridge. With the refurbishment of the Hydey I was approached by El Hornet about potentially doing a reunion gig. He was going to be in town on business and I thought - hey why the hell not? So – we are getting the band back together – well some of them anyway...
No computers and no CDs - just some turntables, some wax and the infamous Tooheys Old and lime by the bucketload."
Unfortunately Mike L & Dan Lucas couldn't make it (as could I...late workshift dammit) - was great to see a night like this though...a different 'rewind theme' DnB event.

Inhibit Promotions presents this DnB Club event - "Phetsta burst onto the Drum & Bass scene in 2005 when he signed exclusively to the legendary Simon Bassline Smith's imprint Technique Recordings. The Australian producer quickly stamped a name for himself within the genre with his early releases. These included his first extended player 'The Congo EP' which cracked the UK Drum & Bass top 10 sales charts, Knowledge Magazine calling it "a production masterpiece". As 2011 rolled in Phetsta dropped his long awaited 'Prism EP'. Dieselboy - the stage name of Damian Higgins, an American DnB DJ, producer, remixer, founder of the Human Imprint music label, and co-founder of its sublabel SubHuman : Human Imprint which launched in September 2010. He was the first American to be voted into the UK-based Drum & Bass Arena Top 10 DJs 2004 online poll, and has played events on six continents. He was also the first drum 'n' bass artist to chart a single on Billboard's dance chart with Invid in 2000. The undisputed godfather of American DnB and virtually built the scene from the ground up as a DJ and promoter in the 90's. 2000 saw Dieselboy joining forces with Palm Pictures/Island Recordings and his releases The Descent, Invid, Render & The 6ixth Session double CD. In 2002, he founded Human Imprint, the DnB imprint of electronic dance music label System Recordings. HUMAN moved to the forefront of the North American dnb movement, its catalog evolving into an international rogue’s gallery of dnb heavyweights with cutting edge singles, EP’s and mixed CD’s that stand as futuristic dnb classics. Human releases include Dieselboy's “projectHUMAN” (2002) and “The Dungeonmaster's Guide” (2004), as well as releases by a number of other artists. In April 2006, Dieselboy released his first Human Imprint compilation, a 2XCD set called "The HUMAN Resource", which debuted at #14 on the Billboard electronic album chart. In 2010 Dieselboy launched his own label Subhuman Imprint for dubstep and electro releases. On January 31, 2011, Dieselboy released his first new mix in two and a half years, "Dieselboy - Unleashed!" (56 tracks, 73 minutes), as a free download on Soundcloud.
Concord Dawn - (aka Evan Short & Matt Harvey) burst onto the NZealand music scene back in mid 1999 with their unique high octane DnB sound. They were the darlings of the local bNet / Student Radio stations up and down NZ, getting hefty primetime airplay, featuring at the top of the weekly Top Ten’s and breaking chart records across the bNet. After a year or so of underground success they were courted by local electronic music label Kog Transmissions and released their first album Concord Dawn in July 2000. Their 3rd album Uprising with tracks like “Morning Light” and “Don’t Tell Me” found international acclaim well before the album’s release. Uprising was released in NZ in Sept 2003 and reached gold sales status in an amazing 3 months. Work on their long awaited 4th album was completed in early 2005 and was titled Chaos By Design to express the album’s musically eclectic nature & was released once again to huge acclaim. In 2010 the first solo Concord Dawn record "The Enemy Within" was released, with guests and collaborations including Thomas Oliver, Rido, JDubs, Nina McSweeney and Paul McLaney. Following this was 2011s "The Race To Zero" EP as well as collaborations with Trei, Jade and State of Mind set be released in the second half of 2011.

But in true Dominate style we booked one of the hardest Perth has to offer. J Switch is a resident for Therapy Sessions Perth and has supported acts such as Limewax, Current Value, Dylan & Roybn Chaos, Panacea, SPL, Spor and more. He is also involved with Perth's Drum N' Bass crew 'Inhibit'. With a bunch Drum and Bass and Dubstep releases on various labels to back him up he is sure to tear the roof off. ST has been playing Hardstyle sets for years, a DJ for F.O.R.C.E since 2007. He has a release on popular Australian label "Spoontech" under his belt as well as heap of international support slots as a veteran of Perth Hardstyle scene and a familar DJ for anyone that has been to a rave in the last 5 years. Tekneeqzz had his first set at Ourstyle and since made himself a name in local Hardstyle. Playing a hard edged mix of newer rough Hardstyle sounds. He was voted second in the PDMA's for "Best Hard Dance DJ" in 2010 and his first production effort was in the running for Defqon1 anthem.
Splinta is originally from Newcastle. He was the creator and member of a popular shuffle crew called the Newcastle Rockers before taking up DJing and production. He reflects this into the Hard Dance he plays with some Tech, Hard Trance and Hard Dance. Bassraiderz is a regular support act for Hard Dance/Hardstyle gigs in Melb and an established producer.
Holding an impressive list of events and international supports, JT Pushes 140bpm Tech Trance and Psytrance into his sets.
Josh Cube needs no introduction at Dominate. The resident DJ has been smashing out sets with an energy unlike anyone else. He has been picked up for numerous international supports in his first year of DJing and is recognised for being incredibly versitile.
Dominate resident and founder Cyberstruct pushes Industrial Hardcore, Crossbreed and Darkcore sounds. Maloonatic has been a resident for F.O.R.C.E since his first rave set playing the harder sets and the infamous 6 O'Clock Shock sets. Also a solid producer with a few releases under his belt. Maloonatic is a nasty Scottish Hardcore DJ with ties to the Scottish and UK Gabber scene."

The Likes Of You presents this very special clube gig - "May's narrative is wedged into electronic music folklore. The story goes that in the mid '80s, May - also known as Rhythim is Rhythim, joined forces with Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins (who became known as the Belleville Three) to fashion a completely new genre of music that, today, we all take for granted. It all started in 1987 when May released Nude Photo, which helped propel the Detroit techno music scene and gradually infiltrate the European acid house mantra. In 1988, house music nirvana arrived when the Detroit native produced the ultimate record, Strings of Life - so named by house prodigy Frankie Knuckles. His production and solo recording exploits may have halted over the past decade but his legacy has rolled on throughout the years, thanks to numerous remixes, re-works and collaborations with some of the most experimental musicians going, including Depeche Mode and ABC. What makes a Derrick May DJ set so uniquely exceptional is his ability to intermingle genres, taking records of years past and making them work in today's crowded musical sphere. Take Icon, a May masterpiece, where the strings sound just as powerful and prevalent today as they did years ago. The 'classic' Derrick May noise is a finite balance between percussion-laded cascades of sound complemented with samples and melody.
