The Vale by Jonathon Earl BowserShe stood alone on the clifftop. The icy wind that skimmed off the ocean billowed her skirt and cascaded her hair around her face. Her crystal blue eyes belied the sadness that was within her heart. She hated herself, her existence and everything that she was. This was the part that was the hardest. The cleansing. The washing away of those sad emotions in preparation of a new beginning. She had stood here like this many times before, and as much as she hated to admit to it, she knew she would stand here again. She closed her eyes, ready for the final remembrance.

She picked him carefully, following him for days before making her first move. He was besotted instantly, they always were. Her face and body always thrilled them and once they gazed into her eyes, their hearts were immediately hers.

It was beautiful, better than it had ever been with any of the rest. Afterwards she lay her head upon his bare chest and listened as his breath became deeper and steadier. Dearly Departed by Noel MollonHe was asleep. With all her heart she wanted to leave, to disappear forever and leave him sleeping peacefully, but she knew she couldn't. It had been so long since the last time, so very long and she was getting dangerously weak. She turned to face him, gently kissed his lips and bade him farewell. Then she ate…

MoonThe wind was dropping and the moon was shining silver rays upon the ocean. She opened her eyes and obliterated the memory from her mind, never to let it return. She took a deep breath and sighed. Female VampireEvery century brought new problems, but the twentieth century had brought a scourge that not only threatened her survival, but relentlessly tangled with her emotions. "But what else can I do", she thought, "getting AIDS would be like driving a stake through my own heart."
