I still have quite vivid memories of my parents listening to their treasured records of Tom Jones while my brother, sister and myself would moan and groan in agony...even today, whenever I hear The Green, Green Grass of Home I still can't suppress that inner groan! Well, times have changed and what do you know...not only is is OK to like good old Tom again but in it's own way it's even pretty cool (well cool may be overstating it a little but you get my drift!) Over the years my taste in music has varied considerably. I'm not too sure that I could sit and listen to ACDC with the stereo turned up to full blast, like I used to (my poor parents...now that I'm older and have a daughter of my own I think I can understand a little of what they went through with three kids and a varied outpouring of noise from the speakers!) That doesn't mean I don't like that sort of music anymore, it's just that I think with age has come the concept of moderation. Even though my mother lined up for hours while we were at school, to buy us tickets to a Kiss concert, I have a feeling that she viewed them in the same light as I now view such artists as Marilyn Manson. Some artists have stayed in my list of favourites for years and will continue to do so. Bryan Adams is a musician that I have listened to for years. His albums are getting better with age. Australia has produced some outstanding successes, especially INXS and now Natalie Imbruglia. Although not a favourite of mine, Kylie has passed through the barrier and proven that she has indeed made it! I have to admit that I didn't have an opinion either way regarding the Spice Girls until my daughter started showing an interest and then an obsession (and forcing us to listen to their music and movie for hours on end.) Now I find myself liking their songs and even singing along to them occasionally! I listen to a wide and diverse range of musicians and these pages will highlight some of my favourites. I will have sections on individual musicians and bands and other pages where I will just give album reviews. The links page will point you to general music sites, music stores and fan pages. Someone sent me an email requesting that I try to cover classical music and another person wanted me to write about and list sites that related to sheet music. I have to admit that I don't have a musical bone in my body and classical music is not something that I tend to listen to very much, but once I have this section up and running I will do my best to cover these and other musical issues as best as I can. To those who have written with requests/comments etc., thank you for the feedback...even though I can't promise I will cover everything requested, I'll do my best to make this site as interesting as possible. Who knows where music is going and where it will take us next century. The other day, after seeing an advertisement for Marilyn Manson's new album (a bizarre video clip that certainly conjured up some weird feelings in me) I watched Entertainment Tonight and was surprised (and slightly thrilled) to see that David Cassidy is making a comeback! Wonder's will never cease. When I was about nine or ten years old David Cassidy was my idol. I was convinced that I was going to marry him one day, well that was until Kiss came along and Gene Simmons became the object of my teenage fantasies! *SPICE GIRLS SECTION The Spice Girls pages are a part of the Kids Rulz section of the website. It was made for my eight year old daughter and therefore contains little or no "scandalous" information and is not as large or in-depth as some Spice Girls Sites, but it is easy to navigate and interesting enough for the younger kids. However, if you enjoy their music you'll probably find some things of interest here...even if you're not as young as you "wannabe" :-) The Spice Girls Site will open up in a separate browser window...in the Kids Rulz pages.
